At Better Healthcare, we pride ourselves on working with a great team of dedicated carers who work hard to provide top-quality healthcare, home care and live-in care services to people in need. In a new series of interviews, we will be giving you an insight into what it’s like to work as a carer for Better Healthcare.
In this edition, we talk to Stephanie Slougly, one of our live-in carers from the London branch.
1. What is it like to work for Better Healthcare?
I’m a live-in carer and it’s important to be professional when providing attentive care based on one’s needs. I can choose to work part-time or full-time, and the company also provides training.
2. What made you decide to work as a live-in carer?
I want to be a successful, hardworking care assistant, and there are great opportunities to develop and progress in social care as well.
3. What roles and responsibilities are involved in being a live-in carer?
Working under the direct supervision of the clients’ needs, I am responsible for their day-to-day support by following the Service Users Care Plan.
4. How do you manage to keep yourself motivated while working as a live-in carer?
Being patient and taking breaks help me to work to the best of my ability. If I have any concerns, I always report it to the office because I know they will give me the right support.
5. What do you learn during your training sessions and how frequent are they?
Every year, Better Healthcare will make sure that I have a refresher course. The training teaches me how to improve my clients’ lives by attending to their specific needs and assisting them with their daily tasks.
6. What advice would you give for others who may want to apply for this role and for those already in the role?
You are always having a new experience supporting the people in need, and the company will also support you by developing your knowledge and skillsets.
Live-in carers provide the vital day-to-day support and emotional support to their clients and their families. The work can be challenging, but hugely rewarding too. If you’re thinking to be a carer and look to develop and progress in social care, contact us today.
