At Better Healthcare Services, we provide regular training for our care workers. Training is key to helping our care workers understand and facilitate safe and effective client care, giving them the confidence and competence to deliver an outstanding care service.

The Better Healthcare training programme combines classroom theory with practical demonstrations. Workbooks and assessments are also included to help develop and improve healthcare knowledge and skills. To make each training program realistic and engaging, we also encompass group participation and interactive exercises. With our in-depth training programme, carers will gain the vital healthcare knowledge and help to create a better future for themselves and their clients.

We often start our training sessions with an overview of Better Healthcare’s structure and the services we offer. This allows carers to have a full understanding of our company, our key values and expectations. Following that is a discussion on employee responsibilities, the role of a care worker and key policies and procedures.

The four-day Healthcare and DomCare (Domiciliary Care) training programme focus on:

  • SOVA – Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults
  • MCA – Mental Capacity Act
  • DOL’s – Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards
  • Dementia care
  • Medication
  • Continence
  • Food hygiene
  • Infection control
  • Moving and handling
  • Basic life support

The identification of individual training needs is based upon the associate’s workplace allocation, for example:

  • Acute Hospitals
  • Observation Training
  • Introduction to Learning Disabilities & Mental Health
  • Control & Restraint
  • Coping with Challenging Behaviour
  • Awareness of Person-Centred Planning
  • Palliative Care
  • Care of the Dying
  • Introduction to Learning Disabilities
  • Prevention of Management of Violence and Aggression (PMVA)

Please refer to the Courses tab for more information.

How often are training sessions?

We run training throughout all of our branches allowing us to be able to deliver frequent training to all. Most offices run training every 2 to 4 weeks

Training standards

At Better Healthcare, we deliver effective training that meet the standards required by our regulators the CQC (Care Quality Commission). Every new care worker at Better Healthcare – especially if they’re new to the care work industry – must complete the Care Certificate during the first 12 weeks of their employment.

Specialist Training

We run a wide-range of specialist care training courses which are specifically developed to support clients with complex care needs.

Our specialist training is designed to support clients with short and long term complex care needs such as brain injury, spinal injury and tracheostomy care.

Our specialist care training courses come with competency assessments which are personalised to the clients medical and social needs.

Training accessibility

We understand that it can be a challenge to make it to every training session, which is why we allow our carers to attend training sessions in other office locations.

Better Healthcare also has an online portal, streaming online healthcare training sessions; they are suitable for carers who want to study at their own pace or from a remote location. The video courses are available 24/7.

If you have any questions on Better Healthcare’s training, please call your local office or email us at enquiries@betterhealthcare.co.uk.
